I’ve noticed that books these days either scold characters for being wealthy or try way too hard to show a character’s wealth and social status. This book is a case of the latter. My eyes could not roll any harder at the reference to “Cambridge.” LOL. Good try, but it’s: “I went to school in Boston.” And it says volumes that the author actually has to explain what this means.

Also, it’s incredibly tacky and condescending when authors write about how much money their perfect main characters make, even though they weren’t forced to change careers or work from home or do X unlike their less-blessed peers who were affected by the Great Recession. Because of course, a lawyer at a white shoe firm pulling down 4 million a year - again, LOL! - is just such a saint to walk away from all that. And of course, this character is “different” than all the other “evil” rich people out there. He treats people fairly ... because no other wealthy people ever do that. Oh, boy!
