First-person narration is often rather casual and can tend toward stream-of-consciousness. I was initially a bit put off by the writing style, wondering if it is a deliberate affectation or just a sign of needing an editor. But if this book delivers on the setup of being a light, unserious mystery, I think the writing style suits it well. I enjoyed the First Look and would be happy to read the rest of the story.
