When I first received this book, I was overwhelmed with the excitement of getting to read a book to where I already related so much to the character just by reading the short sample. The parts that I had already read seemed to have captured the current state of life every high schooler is in. When life feels as if everyday is the same.
The first couple of chapters are easy to follow. I admired how King represented what seemed to be ADHD or ADD in Truda's thinking, adding another element that makes her so relatable. With this, you are able to get a sense of her, Kings, writing style and how to follow the storyline she is laying out. However, I personally found it quite difficult at times to keep up with what was going on in the story. The flipping between time lines was confusing and the symbolism of the boxes was hard to grasp at first.
With that being said, this is only a personal opinion. It is very likely that it is just me who had a difficult time reading. I actually admire Kings plot idea for the book. Not only is it captivating and edgy, it's original.
