Just not my thing

I can see why something like this appeals to readers, but I just couldn't get into it. This is the type of book I want to love and enjoy but I just don't. However, this would be a great, lighter, feel-good summer read for someone looking for a contemporary to read.

I just really struggled with this and couldn't even get through the entire thing and I'm sad about it. Maybe I'm just too old at this point in my life to care? For some reason, when I read contemporary books, I need them to have more depth. More going on. More things to make me feel emotions and care about what I'm reading.

Usually I prefer contemporaries that have darker themes, but they don't necessarily have to be dark, depressing, sad, etc. They just need to have more depth, and this one was lacking depth for my personal tastes.
