I always dislike rating memoirs because it feels like I am judging someone's life, but I am definitely not. I am rating the writing style and format.
What did I enjoy? I really liked the way this tory was structured and the plotline. I went in not really understanding what would happen. The premise of a teenager putting up her child for adoption and then explaining fifty one years later why she made that decision. It was such an emotional and tear breaking story and I was intrigued by it. The illustrations were also so fascinating.
What didn't work for me? I personally did not enjoy the way this story went. I found it a bit dull. The way this story was explained felt a bit to general for me and I really felt like this story had so much potential.
My overall opinion was that this book was a hard hitting one. I thought it was a good story, just wish there was more to it.
