I really enjoyed reading Marylee's perspective on both surrendering a child, and being adopted herself. I think that especially with the context of today, this book shows us how hard it was to be an unwed mother, especially with the stigmas around teen pregnancy, as well as divorce, especially now that the conversations around sex, birth control, and reproductive rights are becoming open for discussion. I loved how she portrays the feelings of alienation she has, both as an adopted child, and as a mother and wife. I also really liked how expert references to psychology were brought in; it really brought more credibility to her work.

Overall, Macdonald's story brought me to tears. It was beautiful and unfair, and she did an amazing job portraying that. I also really appreciated her honesty and openness when discussing these topics; it made the whole story that much more personal.
