The best kinds of memoirs are the ones that make the reader question their worldview on something, or look inside themselves and re-evaluate something in their own lives. This book was one of those excellent finds that stand out among memoirs.
The story, while describing the author's journey and growth through pain and trauma, showed depth. It also captured some of the era's norms that helped to shape the life and story of the woman and mother. There was much strength, raw honesty, and hope displayed throughout this story of struggle, internal journey, and courage.
The writing style was quite pleasant to read. I appreciated the author's voice and careful balance of infusing the story with the appropriate amount of emotions while continuing to move the story forward.
