I was so excited to receive this book after reading the summary and first look. A society completely run by children 13 and under, with only a year of training in various fields just sounded like such a cool and unique idea for a book. Unfortunately, I just didn't find myself loving the book as much as I hoped. While I finished the book to see how the plot played out and what happened to the characters, I found myself struggling to enjoy the writing style. So much of it was overly detailed, to the point where I would get bored and end up skimming through sections. Like other readers have said, I'm not sure if this writing style is just a product of the book being translated from the original language. All I can say is that while I initially liked the extended descriptions and scientific info, after a while I just wanted to get on with the story and not have to sit there and read through it.
I was able to push through the book (mostly because I hate reviewing books without completing them), but I didn't really find it enjoyable. Overall, I chose to give it 3 stars because the plot was interesting and the story was unique, but the writing was tedious, and a bit exhausting at times.
