Reading translated texts is always risky as the language and meaning can easily be lost. But if this book is somewhat lost in translation, then it is somewhat lost in an amazing direction. The language is vibrant and adds to the depth of already profound themes. The first section is a crash course education on supernova and eloquent writing which, if the reader is interested in either, has a gravity all its own. From there, the reader is drawn into the aftermath of a near apocalyptic event that draws from historical references and scientific themes which are sewn into a realm of societal behavior. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this book is that it is written in such a way as to make the reader feel intrigued by, and engaged in, the plot without being emotionally invested in any of the characters. For this particular plot, it works perfectly. A must read!
