This was my first David Yoon book. I read his wife’s book (The Sun is Also a Star) and I loved it. This one was not for me though. The story felt like a common YA plot that I have read before. However, the wit and banter of the characters was absolutely amazing. In the end, this was a sweet and fun YA story, but it just wasn’t for me.
When Sunny Dae—self-proclaimed total nerd—meets Cirrus Soh, he can’t believe how cool and confident she is. So when Cirrus mistakes Sunny’s older brother Gray’s bedroom—with its electric guitars and rock posters—for Sunny’s own, he sort of, kind of, accidentally winds up telling her he’s the front man of a rock band. From this point on it was just boring and so predictable. Girl meets boy. Boy lies to girl. Lies come back to bite him. Fight. Love. I just felt like I’d read this story before. I love ya romance but this lacked anything new.
