I really enjoyed David Yoon's Frankly in Love, so I was excited to hear that he was writing another novel. Super Fake Love Song does not disappoint as Yoon also provides readers another perspective from an Asian American teenager growing up and learning what love means and what it means to love oneself and another, whether it be family, friend, partner or significant other. I also enjoyed how Yoon tied in his own childhood experiences into the story so that it was more relatable to some readers and a potential learning point for those readers and others. We have a well-fleshed out set of characters as well and Yoon takes the time to guide the reader threw those characters' thoughts, emotions, and actions. Yoon's writing itself is simple yet elegant and there was a ease with which the reader flows through the words on the page. All in all, this was a nice read.
