This wasn’t the book I was expecting after Yoon’s first book, but I did enjoy it. I had to suspend some belief and just immerse myself in it like a cheesy romantic comedy, but once I did that it was a fun book. And the fun levels are largely due to the main character Sunny Dae who is a fabulous character worth getting to know. While the story was pretty formulated and predictable Sunny adds his own special flair and entertainment to everything and I loved it. I could read more stories from Sunny’s perspective especially if they involved his two best friends Milo and Jamal because they were also fabulous characters. I felt like Cirrus is deeper than we got to know and she definitely has her own story to tell as well. I also personally enjoyed the nods to the many ways to be a nerd and how there is coolness in all passion. All in all this was a fun read which added some joy to a year in need of it.
