I will always read a fake dating story, weather it's in a published book or in a fanfic online, and this one didn't disappoint.

I think David Yoon must also be a fan of this trope because it featured in his debut novel Frankly in Love, although I was not a fan of that book. I think his writing style had grown between his debut novel and this book. It is always fun to see how authors mature and change over time. These characters were much more well rounded and seemed like real people I could be friends with. I could relate to the awkward struggles of first love and trying desperately to seem cool in front of your crush while feeling like a fool. Also, the changes that you end up making mean you lose sense of yourself and your true friends. This book made me think of the movie Can't Buy Me Love. If you're a fan of that movie, but with a modern and diverse cast, this is the book for you!
