Cliché, but Fun Read
When I was scrolling through the list of books the cover on this one automatically caught my eye. The colorful cover, and description of the book within made me want to see how exactly Sunny would be able to pull off faking being part of a band and how he would attempt to keep up the lie.
The book starts off with a bit of a cliched high school nerd narrative that has been seen many times before. The typical nerd and his friends, the jock who has it out for him for an unknown reason, the nerds "cool brother". It plays a bit too much into every possible stereotype that comes from this kind of trope. Although this is the case, I was still invested in what could be Sunny's journey and i wanted to know how the story would pan out for the quirky main character.
One thing that I love about this book so far is the fact that the main character and his friends come from a diverse background. This is one of the few books I've seen in a long time with actual representation and I cant wait to see how Yoon develops these characters throughout the rest of the book.
