This collection peeled away the stress and pain and burdens I've been feeling crushed under for several months. For one afternoon, I was able to take this book to my quiet backyard in a patch of sun and put those worries away and just feel so light I could float. I was so relieved I cried a little in sheer joy as I just sat and felt the breeze on my skin, heard the rustling leaves and bird calls. It's what I needed.
In a more technical sense, the collection is broken into four sections each with a theme. They're mostly focused on emotions and thoughts, and tend towards the positive and hopeful sentiments over negative or pained. There was one section dedicated to sex, which would usually steer me away, but it was done in such a loving manner that I actually appreciated it. Making it both sexual and sensual, with arousal and pleasure but also with connection and joy, it just felt really lovely.
There are several of these poems I'd love to have printed versions of, something I could have nearby to look at and comfort me when I need it. I foresee this collection getting a lot of re-reads and being a treasured friend.
