It took me a long while to get around to finally reading this book but I'm so glad I finally picked it up! 'Sugar town queens' is a delightfully captivating story!!
This story is set in South Africa and follows fifteen year old Almandla. Almandla has a white mother who struggles with mental health and a mysterious, unknown black father whom she has never met. Almandla comes across a huge sum of money in her mom's purse, leading her to research more about her mom leading to her discovering many shocking secrets!
This book discusses family, friendships, race, poverty, queerness and much more!
It also had great friendship and just a bit of romance!
