"Suger Town Queens" covers a topic that's important to me, which is mental illness in a parent and the toll that can take on their child. This book also discusses class issues in South Africa which I'd love to learn more about. I also really fell for the characters! The part that convinced me I had to read this was when Amandla met up with Lil Bit and was given a thoughtful birthday present when she wasn't expecting anything. It was SO sweet, and I instantly felt that best friend connection.
