As a chinese-american who grew up listening to stories about the three kingdoms this is a pleasant surprise to me. This novel is the three kingdoms but female dominant instead of the original male characters. From Cao Cao to Zhu Geliang has changed to Xin ren and Qilin. Even the rulers has changed from prime minister to prime ministress and emperor to empress. I adore the concept of the this whole book. The art at the beginning of the book is also amazing, taking into account traditional Chinese water art and mixing it with contemporary animation art. However, the style of the novel is hard to read if you don't have a Chinese background. Even with a Chinese background like me, it was still a little hard to read as I tried to piece together the context with the words. This is unfortunately normal as the original three kingdoms was written in Chinese and it is hard to transfer all the context into another language.
