I'm ofcourse a huge Joan He fan even though I've only read her debut Descendant of the Crane. But it was a thrilling ride and I will always feel bad about all the issues the author had to face regarding it's rights and how we will never get a sequel for it. But when I saw the announcement that she was writing a new series, taking inspiration from the Chinese classic Three Kingdoms, I knew I would be first in line to read it. And that gorgeous cover has only strengthened my resolve.

I ofcourse did try to read classic before the release of Strike the Zither but it's still a bit too huge for my taste. I however have listened to a bit of the podcast, seen enough videos on youtube and did some basic research on it, so I have a little idea about the plot as well as the details about the major players. So it was pretty exciting when I was immediately able to recognize who Xin Ren and her swornsisters Lotus and Cloud were inspired from. The way the author wrote about how Zephyr mind works was very fascinating, even if a bit exasperating because Zephyr seems to have a bit too much confidence for her own good. But I'm eager to see the exploits of this Joan's version of Zhuge Liang.

This turned out to be a great few first chapters, and I had a lot of fun reading. It also ends on a very thrilling note, so I'm much more excited to read what comes next.
