If I were to walk by this book in the store, the beautiful cover would catch my eye leading me to read the book blurb, at which point I’d say, nope not my thing. However, I’d flip through the pages and find myself amazed by the stunning illustrations that have an anime vibe appropriate for the story. The character outline, map and poetry would pull me farther in, where I’d find the story is quite compelling, with intriguing action, meaningful description, likable characters and dialogue that moves the plot forward. And I’d be hooked, thinking about what young person I know who’d enjoy this story. It seems like a great crossover book for someone who might tend toward graphic novels.
