The cover of the book displayed in its gold and reds is what first captured my eye. Yellow being symbolic of the color that only Emperors could wear. And red being a symbolic meaning in Chinese history for love and passion. The fact that this takes place during a fictional time and place that seems to be influenced by the the warring states period of China, a period of unrest and war where most women, if not all women, were excluded from being mentioned or discussed from Chinese history and stories. A gender twist like what the summary gave is very intriguing for this setting. I would love to see how a woman would approach the strife during their land, especially women with power, and how they give new understanding to long ago eras in China that claimed to be focused and told on only men and the wars they fought.
