Self-help books are not really my thing. Many seem to have regurgitated lines from the motivational posters of my middle school days (you know the ones), except that they turn one line into an entire chapter. This is a snooze-fest for me. While offering good advice, others are unlikely to have actual applicable advice for the "average" person. Stop Missing Your Life, however, broke the mold a little bit for me.

I found Stop Missing Your Life to be quite enjoyable, even if, at times, a little pretentious. The overall message, though, is something I've been interested in exploring for a while. Between my never-ending list of responsibilities and my anxiety telling me to "look ahead," I often find myself missing the present. This was made even more apparent after I had children, and my husband could remember all these important moments, and all I can recall is being stressed about it. I will take the teachings of this book with me and continue to try to live in the moment.
