I wouldn't have picked this book up on my own, but I'm so glad I read it. I have a bit of familiarity with mindfulness meditation from a class in college where we practiced the body scan meditation and read Jon Kabat-Zinn. But for whatever reason I've never managed to stick with it. What a lot of the exercises in the beginning of the book reminded me of was the EMDR I've been doing with my therapist, which have undoubtedly helped me.

This book is laid out in a clear, easy to follow manner and written with humor. It manages to give the impression of being both very simple and very deep. There are several ways in to each suggested exercise, and each is presented in a non-judgemental manner. This made it impossible to give up with a 'meditation just isn't for me' attitude.

I really enjoyed the personal anecdotes from Muscara's teaching and meditating practice. They made me want to learn how I, too, could benefit from meditation.

I intend to reread the book and also to incorporate some of the suggestions into my life - maybe this time I'll even be able to stick with meditation.

Thanks to bookishfirst and the publisher for sending me a review copy of this book.
