I have a lot of feelings about this book. There were things I enjoyed about it and things I did not. Let’s start with what I did enjoy.
I love the concept of a woman tackling a tough journey through pain and betrayal. Julie grew so much from the start of the book and it was so awesome to see her head out on her own to start a new life. So many friends became family and I just loved how loyal they were and how much they wanted to protect Julie. Teresa and Frank were two of my favorites for sure!
But then by the end I was like WHAT. I won’t spoil the ending for anyone, but personally I was not a fan. It felt like everything that had happened up to that point hadn’t even happened. Maybe I don’t fully understand because I have never been in Julie’s shoes, but the ending completely surprised me. I also had a tough time with the constant time jumps in the story. On one page it may be May and then a sentence later it’s June. All the quick jumping around definitely didn’t work for me.
While this was not my personal favorite, I hope that you’ll still give this read a try!
