It's hard when the one you love doesn't love you in the same way. Dan possibly does love Julie as much as he can, but Dan has what we call a wandering eye and roving fingers. He doesn't see his occasional dalliances as betrayals of his wedding vows. He can't imagine Julie takes them more strongly than he does. He surely doesn't want a divorce. But just as soon as Julie can face it, he's getting one.
