I really think the story line had a lot of potential, however some of the writing threw me off. At times it seemed to reach a little, like when she said she sat so long on her cold porch that her legs went numb and she had to drag herself inside. Who knows, maybe it could happen but I would think one wouldn't lose the ability to walk from simply sitting on a cold porch.
