This is the first book I have read of Marie Lu as I haven't heard of her until I stumbled across this book on BookishFirst. I don't usually read spy novels but this particular one drew me in, especially the cover as I am a sucker for book cover art. It was slow at first as characters are introduced and backstories are explained. However, once Winter and Sydney start their mission, the pace quickens and I was on the edge of my seat. It was so hard to put the book down as I wanted to know what happened next.
I would have gave this book five stars if wasn't for the ending. I’m not a huge fan of cliffhangers/opening endings, so the ending made me crave more. I didn't realize that this book is part of a series until I started writing this review and did my research. I hope the next book comes out soon so we can explore more of Winter and Sydney's story!
