This is a solid start! Lu's writing style is not especially unique or interesting but I also found it pretty easy to read. I like the serious tone mixed with humor. There is not much spy stuff happening so far, but what is there is enough to intrigue me. I am not a huge fan of the popstar/fame element, but it is not a deal breaker.
