I really enjoyed this book. I know it's for middle school kids, but since I have been a middle schooler before, I found it relatable, lol. I truly feel like it is an empowering book for any age. I would not classify myself as a big girl, but I have heard some of the things Ellie describes in this book. As a woman, and as a young girl. I wish I would have had this book at my disposal when I first started hearing some of these things. It makes me want to hold on to this book and save for my daughter when she get a little older.
The writing was also well done. I felt like the main character, Ellie, had some good growth, and you really feel like you are on the journey with her. I would highly recommend Starfish to anyone who has ever struggled with their weight or had to deal with unhelpful critical remarks from family. Especially for younger girls or boys that might be struggling with their weight or similar situations with family.
