This book was so delightful! I flew through it! I loved the verse format. Ellie is a young girl that overcomes her internal feelings of self doubt. As a mother of a young daughter I feel like this book is a must read. Our children are impressionable and the words we use to describe them and others have an affect on them. This book made me think of how I talk with my daughter and how our children feed off of what they hear at home. It’s a book that will resonate with young girls and boys, parents, and teachers. The list goes on. This book shows how it just takes one person to make a difference in someone’s life. For someone who doesn’t read a lot of middle grade novels, I thoroughly enjoyed this. I am going to make it a point to read more middle grade books because I see the importance of putting yourself in the shoes of a young person. As adults we can learn a lot from the younger generation and this book proves just that!
