Starfish was such a well done and beautiful book.
I was surprised that it had me feeling so emotional when I finally set it down. It is heart breaking in such a great way. I felt so much for Ellie and gave me such a new perspective for what it’s like to be obese and “different” in our society today.
I also really enjoyed the format of the way that it is written, really different.
Ellie is such a strong young girl and I love the message that she sends out. She also has such character growth throughout the book which was awesome to watch unfold. I love how she stands up for herself to her mother and her bullies. It is such a great book to read to get a perspective of bullying and body shaming, would be great for young girls and boys, and just for our society in general.
