This is a middle grade novel in verse about a young girl named Ellie. I read this book in one day, well really I stayed up late reading it. This book broke my heart and at times made me cry. My heart broke for the sadness and pain that poor Ellie endured. Ellie is tired of being fat shamed. She tries to live by the “fat girl rules to cope with being bullied. I loved watching Ellie become more confident in herself and to learn to love herself. I love the relationship she had with her dad and her new neighbor Catalina. Certain characters had me wanting to jump in the book to give them a piece of my mind.
I highly recommend checking this one out. It was such a good book. I kept accidentally and not so accidentally waking up husband while I was reading and started giving him a play by play of the book. If you haven’t read this one yet you really should! Especially middle grade aged kids.
