Becky Albertalli and Julie Murphy for the middle school set.

This book feels so necessary. Middle Grades. Written in verse. Fat-positive. This book will provide the important representation that is so missing. I really enjoyed the style of writing and I think middle grade students will enjoy. The book also tackles the challenges of fat shaming when it's coming from your own family. The main character Ellie faces bullying from her siblings and at school and her mom is pressuring her to lose weight. Unfortunately, this is an experience too many kids will be able to relate to and I hope Epps provides them with reassurance and guidance with how to confront these bullies even when they're your parents.

The cover is really beautiful and graphic and will stand out on the shelf. The title is also really great and I loved the concept of "starfishing" in the pool.
