Ellie is a teenage girl who runs a little on the large side. She’d like to be just like all the other kids her age, but she can’t forget, even for a minute, that she is fat. She hears it continuously from her mom, her siblings, and her classmates. You get the sense that her dad is the one person on the planet that has her back.
This book is just a little bit heartbreaking when you think about all of the young girls being raised to think that their bodies are too big (or skinny, dark, light, etc.) to be beautiful. Beautifully written in verse, I hope the ending has a message at the end that is worthy for all the girls that need to hear it.
