I LOVED THIS BOOK. SO MUCH. It is very emotional, as it describes trauma, past and present. It is raw and real. It makes the reader feel like finding a way to get inside the book and help the characters heal. Dr. Gray and Granny Deirdre were my favorite characters because they are the voices that accept and recognize humanness, in all its dirty, beautiful and messy forms. They are compassionate, caring and non-judgmental.
Mary Cecilia Jackson wrote about a difficult topic in a beautiful way. Trauma makes people respond in different ways and it always hurts. It always requires a decision to heal and the process is ugly, but when the decision to heal is made, there is hope. This great author gave us that.
