Special thank you to TOR and Macmillan Publishing Group for sending me this ARC to read, in exchange for my honest review.

While I am a high school librarian, I often find it difficult to connect with the characters in trending YA lit. Sparrow, however, was pleasantly surprising in that I did not want to put this book down and was rooting so hard for these characters because I couldn't wait to see if they would get their happy endings or not.

Told in alternating perspectives between Savannah Rose and her friend and dance partner, Lucas, Sparrow follows the story of Savannah -- better known as “Sparrow” to those closest to her -- as she falls in love with a monster and, sadly, suffers the consequences.

This was such an intense novel at times, and I felt like I was right there with the characters, experiencing their highs and lows. The author did a fantastic job capturing the emotions of these young people and their families, bringing each scene to life on the pages.

While I can’t recommend this book enough, especially to my teen readers, I did give four stars instead of five, simply because I was left wanting to know more in those final chapters, especially where Tristan was concerned. Excellent book, though, and will be recommending this one a great deal in the years to come.
