I wanted to love it...
I really wanted to love this book and after reading the first chapter, I did! But from there, the story became something that I had real trouble connecting with.
The timeline jumps forward very quickly, skipping over portions of the story but then coming back to them later. I understand the effect that the book was seeking but unfortunately, it kept me from really caring about the characters and wanting to turn the page.
In the end, even though I didn't thoroughly enjoy the book, I didn't completely hate it either. There were some moments where I did lose myself in the story. Knowing this is a debut novel, I look forward to more from the author.
