I need to start by saying that I was extremely excited to win a copy of this title. I'm a big fan of Black Swan and thought I would now get a chance to read a Young Adult take on a ballerina's story.
As the book was in transit to my residence, I began to see to notice low reviews. I was still anticipating Sparrow.
I now understand the lower ratings. I DNF'd this book in the second chapter. I could not get past the writing. Aside from being over dramatic, it physically hurt my eyes to take the style of writing into my brain.
I was curious after the first few pages and looked into the author. I think that she tried too much to write for a younger audience. This may work for a young teen, but for this adult who loves YA, it was a BIG miss.
