Sparrow goes in to depth with abuse many face today. She faced abuse from her mother which led her to face abuse from a boyfriend. It’s all beautifully written and I love the dual voices it’s told in. From Sparrows perceptive and her friends. I think the book really goes in to depth and shows how the abuse, from her mother then boyfriend, has affected her. How going to a therapist and talking with someone finally helped her pull through. It really also goes in to how the abuse is not her fault. And I think that’s a big part of the book and something many have to come to the realization of after being abused. In the friends perspective, we see just how the attack affected him and Sparrows other good friend and how they deal with it and try to help her. I do wish we could’ve seen a little more of after she told the police who attacked her just to see what the jerk would’ve said once he was actually named.
