Haunting, tragic, and beautiful
This book was intense! Sparrow's story unfolds slowly over the course of the book, and it was done very well. This is a journey through an extremely traumatic and abusive relationship (definite trigger warnings for abuse and domestic violence), but it is also a beautiful story about family, friendship, and a very powerful and pure love.
There were some pacing issues, which is why it was a 4 star for me, versus five star. The book jumped ahead months at a time, and though I understand why (not wanting to make it too long), sometimes it made me feel like the story progressed or ramped up too quickly, and it took my heart a while to catch up with the characters actions.
Sparrow was just lovely, and broken, and sweet. Her journey was powerful. And I just loved everything about Lucas.
