I received an ARC of “Sparrow” through bookish first in exchange for an honest review.

I must first say that this is not any easy book to read because of the themes of physical, emotional, and physiological abuse. In addition I found the story difficult to follow. Some characters needed more background, especially Sparrow's mother. I found my self wanting to know more about the some of the characters as the story progressed.
Sparrow's angst was very real and very disturbing and heartbreaking.
The ballet scenes, Sparrow's passion, were the best part of the story. Her relationship with dancing and her dancing friends were some of my favorite parts of the book.
Overall, I think the story was good but without better character development it was not memorable.
