I will start by saying as the survivor of abuse as a child my thoughts on this book may be a bit biased, but they may also be a bit more accurate because I lived through (obviously not exactly), but many of the same things the protagonist did. I can tell you this for certain, the author's written descriptions of Sparrow's thoughts, feelings, actions, etc (both before and after the traumas) was so well done. She didn't need to go into so much detail it became triggering, instead she wrote from Sparrows perspective and went really deep with that which I related to 100%. Too many times in the book I found myself thinking "that's EXACTLY how I felt or what I thought" in was so well written. There were some slow times, but it's not meant to be a triller... I'd absolutely recommend this book to anyone but especially anyone who may have experienced abuse or who wants to understand it better. There is also a beautiful story in all of this as well. A girl who's been through so much and come out the other side. Hope. This had to have been a very hard book to write but well done in my opinion.
