After reading the description for Sparrow by Mart Cecelia Jackson, it seems to be very similar to Speak and Shout (both by Laurie Halse Anderson). The topic being connected to abuse and speaking out against abusers is very popular in today's society, so I think this book sounds perfect and empowering for young adults.
