I was really excited to read more about Bao - I loved him from the first page - Lan was a character that was harder for me to warm up too. I guess I was expecting her to grow from the spoiled rich girl to a more caring and mature person. This does eventually happen but it was way, way too far into the story.
Throughout it all, I only grew to love Bao more and more. This guy! He is such a softy and he definitely deserved better than Lan. After having his heart crushed, being publically humiliated, fired and then cursed by a witch, Bao never manages to loose his cool.
I actually wanted him to let loose it and just snap! If anyone deserves to vent and rail against fate, its Bao.
The story lost a bit of it's momentum half way through and I did struggle a bit to get back into the story (mainly because of Lan) but overall, the story was really good. I enjoyed discovering this (new to me) author.
