Loved It!
In Song of the Crimson Flower by Julie C. Dao, Lan, the daughter of a wealthy nobleman rejects Bao, a poor physician's assistant after he declares his love for her. Lan soon discovers after that Bao has been cursed and his soul is now trapped inside a flute. Wanting to make amends, she vows to help Bao to break the curse.
This was a unique and well-written story. It felt like a fairytale and I enjoyed reading about the characters and their journey. This was one of my favorite reads in 2019 and definitely will be rereading this again. This was the first book that I have read from Julie C. Dao and I have added her other books to my TBR!
Note this story does have characters from her other books, but it is not necessary to read to understand this book.
