Love and Witchcraft in an Exotic Setting

I'm not quite sold on this book so far. I think that the love story is tenderly told, and I appreciate the setting, an Asian world with its blend of ancient tradition and a woman known for witchcraft. However, I feel as if the plot detail provided with the preview (that the young man who is suitable as a future husband is captured in his own flute) sort of tells me as much as I need to know. I might be wrong, but this just does not grab me as a must read.
