I am absolutely in love with this book! I'm a big fan of retellings (especially with historical settings) and this was one of my favorites from 2021 so far. I have been recommending it to literally everyone I know.
I just have to say, the range of Bethany C. Morrows writing is absolutely incredible! I picked this up as a cover buy not making the connection. I just read her other book A Song Below Water last month and it could not be more different. I can't believe I finally found an author who I enjoy despite genre-hopping. I'm quite literally obsessed; anything she writes from now on will definitely be an auto-buy for me.
Even though I love her other work, I think this one, in particular, is really special. It's the type of novel teachers should keep in their classroom shelf and libraries should always have on hand. A must-read, without question!
