Steve, former NFL player, and Zach, investment manager, are on their yearly hunting trip. They are accompanied by Curt, hunting guide turned friend over the years. Zach, escaping from a bear attack, comes across a plane crash with no one around and bags of cocaine. After telling Steve about it the two decide to take the cocaine and sell it to pocket the cash. And from there, as one might expect, chaos ensues.

What I liked about the book is the action and pacing of the story. We are getting story lines from pretty much all the characters; drug cartel looking for their snow, Steve and Zach trying to sell it while avoiding both the cartel and the police, and Curt with the police trying to fix everything. The transition in each of the character timelines did well for the story and it didn’t feel like it was jumping around to much. At one point Zach and Steve get separated and they are each looking for a buyer and then they keep missing each other but you as the reader know what each is doing and you just want to say stay there your friend is on his way! It’s a good kind of suspense…

What I didn’t like is that the book is just one big trope. I felt like I’ve read all this before, there wasn’t anything new the author brought to the table. There was also a heavy focus on the married men having relationships with other women. They constantly have this inner crises of loving and missing their wives as they are thinking about, talking about, and having sex with other women. I wanted to reach into the book and say, “OMG you love her breasts, WE GET IT, move along!”

Upon getting this book originally as an ARC, I hadn’t read anything else by Mike Bond and I would certainly like to pick something else up.
