I feel like this excerpt isn’t quite the beginning of the book but maybe further along in the book where something more interesting is happening. The reason I say this is because it jumps straight into the thick of things with no real buildup of the characters or plot, leaving me a little confused. Because of this I feel I can’t judge this fairly.
