I won a copy of Skyjack from Bookish First in return for a fair and honest review.

Going into this book I did not know this was the second book in a series, but that did not hinder the enjoyment of the book. This book is in the style of James Rollins, Steve Berry, etc. with the fast pace and short chapters. I did like the plot but thought the characters could have been more developed (and maybe I missed some of that from not reading the first book).
The plot was fairly interesting but I didn’t really see anything new and super surprising. It did read like it would make a decent action movie. I did like some of the characters and I really did appreciate that Thea had to deal with diabetes, you don’t see that in a main character every day so that representation was interesting to read.
Overall I thought this book was good but I have seen this type of story done better by other authors, but she does have a lot of potential. Maybe with a few more books under her belt K.J. Howe will be right up there with all the big names too.
